Making the transition from a worker manager etc to a leadership role is often difficult for many people.
“When Above The Line leaders hear about a particular problem such as a lack of product quality, they don’t bemoan that fact, but immediately try to figure out exactly how people at all levels of the organization, including them-selves, have failed to shoulder responsibility for the quality of their own individual contributions.”
Having run my own business i have learned quickly that no matter what the problem is within your business it falls on the leader at some point or another. When wanting feedback from employees i have learned to ask them. “What can i do to better manage you”
This makes them lower their guard and defensive side and open up.
“Above the Line” methods or lack there of exist throughout many businesses and employers i feel this method should be integrated into more business schools.
